Thermal Sheild
thingiverse
The thermal shield safeguards the temperature sensor suspended from the payload box of speedball 1. The sensor board measures approximately 40mm in height (http://wiki.whitestarballoon.com/doku.php?id=hardware:externalsensor:v1). Crafted from white/natural ABS plastic, the shield undergoes rigorous testing, including exposure to extreme cold (-55C) in a cryo chamber and durability checks at freezing jet stream temperatures by way of hammer strikes. Printed inverted on a Makerbot, it features a top hole tailored for snug passage of 30-gauge Teflon wires.
