Thermal printer station

# Thermal printer station I needed a compact, stable mounting solution for my thermal printer and label spool. I wasn't able to find one that fit the bill, so I designed my own. This is designed specifically to work with the footprint of the Rollo thermal printer. The design could be altered to accept other printers, though. It is a space-saving design that incorporates bearings to ensure smooth and quiet operation, as well as relatively quick label spool changes. # Parts There are four parts the need to be printed: - Base - Left leg - Right leg - Spindle Other parts required: - Two (2) 608ZZ bearings (commonly referred to as "skateboard" bearings) # Assembly The legs press-fit into the bottom of the base. Note that the legs are slightly different. This is because the footprint of the Rollo thermal printer is not symmetrical, which aside from being annoying, necessitated a unique design for each leg. The bearings fit onto the ends of the spindle, and together they fit in the inner grooves of the legs. # What types of labels does it support? The spindle is 23mm at its widest. At the height it sits in the legs, it can support a roll of 500 4x6 labels, and of course smaller quantities as well. # How should it be printed? I printed it using a 0.2mm layer height and 15% gyroid infill using standard PLA. ### Base Print flat, no supports necessary. ### Legs Print upright as pictured without supports. The overhang should print okay. ### Spindle I printed it vertically with a support on the bottom. It separated relatively easily. It could also probably be printed horizontally, but that would require more supports. It is 7.3" long, so it's close to the max of many printers! # Is it stable? Yes! I thought at first when designing this that it would be top heavy, but the small feet incorporated on the legs make all the difference. Especially with a large roll on the spindle, it is extremely stable. You'd really have to push it forcefully to make it fall over. The printer feet sit snugly in the base mounts, so changing labels is easy and the printer doesn't move around at all.
