Theoben Rapid Shroud
thingiverse
This is a Theoben Rapid Airgun Shroud I designed specifically for individuals without access to a lathe who want to create their own shroud. Standard barrel length is around 16 inches and diameter is approximately 15.75-15.8mm (5/8") from the factory. The holes in the parts are 6mm to suit a 5.5mm (.22) pellet, featuring very close tolerance to help strip air from around the pellet. However, the original files are included for you to adjust to suit your caliber. It's designed for use with high-tolerance Carbon Fibre tube measuring 28mm OD x 26mm ID x 1mm Wall Thickness. I've included the CAD file for reference, which is for a 600mm tube but can be adapted to any length you desire. Grubscrew holes are for M4 but will require a drill and tap to make it the exact size to avoid splitting layers. Although I've managed to insert grubscrews into PLA without splitting layers, it's hit or miss whether you manage it correctly. The air stripper needs correct alignment with the bore, so use two grubscrews and look down the barrel with it removed from the gun. If possible, rod a pellet up the bore to check the alignment. The design is meant to be back venting out of the rear support, so use sound deadening materials next to the barrel if you want to slow the air down as it vents back down the shroud. The cages are to be wrapped in felt to deaden the sound. I'd like to extend a big thank you to bucketboy on the Rapid7ownersclub.com for his invaluable advice on the design. If you're interested in one of his great shrouds, contact him there and he'll create an extremely quiet one for you. Please note that this design is not for sale or use in manufacturing of saleable products. Check the licence for more information.
