Theo Jansen walking Mechanism
thingiverse
I worked on a "walking machine" inspired by Theo Jansen's "strandbeest," creating Prototype I and II with functioning parts. However, I encountered difficulties in finding suitable joint connections, as some needed to be rotatable while others had to be locked. Additionally, screw-head interference was an issue. To resolve this, I constructed the third prototype using 3D-printed elements containing cavities for screw heads (viewable in my other projects). I shared blueprints of both prototypes that were lasercut from plexiglass, and used m4 screws and aluminum sticks for joint construction. Prototype I was a rough model with a 10-pack cardboard box as its chassis. The project remains in progress; an interactive animation (http://www.mekanizmalar.com/theo_jansen.html) may aid collaborators.
