TheNose monitors indoor air quality and visually displays it with a vibrant RGB LED shining brightly through its tip. Moreover, all data is stored on a local MQTT broker, making it easily accessible on a Node-Red dashboard. The electronics consist of an Adafruit SGP30 air quality sensor board, an Adafruit si7021 temperature and humidity sensor, and a prototyping board featuring the ESP8266 controller, LED, and voltage regulator. Additionally, TheNose includes a compact 20 mm fan to maintain constant airflow through its housing, ensuring that rising temperatures due to electronic component heat dissipation are avoided. I fabricated the nostril grids with black PLA and other components in white to enable LED illumination through the material. The fan mount is made of TPE (Filaflex Ultrasoft Shore 70A) to isolate vibrations from the bottom plate.
