I wanted to create a secure station for plugging in my Ampera's charging cable into the outdoor mains socket at home. The main objective was to ensure that the cable couldn't be easily pulled out without using a crowbar. I also aimed to shield it from harsh weather conditions, since it would be exposed outside but under the roof. To get an overview of the energy usage and verify charger functionality, I added an affordable energy meter. This setup should work with most standard EU in-wall sockets featuring earth contact, commonly known as Schuko plugs. Please exercise caution and only proceed if you possess sufficient knowledge about electrical safety and installation procedures. The station should accommodate other charging cables of similar thickness, up to 35mm handle maximum.
