Thebit could be a typical crater, a small impactor taking on the giant. Among the billions of craters scattered across the moon's surface, they all follow a familiar pattern - smaller craters colliding with larger ones. There is no instance where a large crater has engulfed a smaller one. This is why - apart from Tycho and Copernicus - every other prominent crater on the moon has a volcanic origin.
