The theater of Morgantina in Sicily was built around 250 BC on a site previously occupied by a smaller structure serving the same purpose. This existing theater is part of a comprehensive urban renewal plan aimed at enhancing the agorà. A three-dimensional model of the theater was created using data from 62 FARO Focus3D laser scans that were processed with Reality Capture software and further refined in Geomagic Wrap, InstantMeshes, Blender, and Meshlab. The project's data collection was a collaborative effort between the University of Catania and CVAST at the University of South Florida (USF) with the participation of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK). Dr. Mariarita Sgarlata and Dr. Herbert Maschner led this research, which has been transferred to Global Digital Heritage for analysis and processing. The Hitz Foundation provided funding for both USF and GDH.
