The Yinxian Timber Pagoda, situated within the Temple of Buddha's Palace, is a remarkable ancient structure built in 1056 A.D. Standing at 67.31 meters with an octagonal cross section, it is China's largest and most ancient wooden pagoda. Designated as a national treasure for its exceptional craftsmanship, the Pagoda has been protected by the State Council since 1961. The nine-storied building features intricate wooden frames connected via mortises and tenons on complex bracket systems, with outside railings on floors two and upwards. Inside, visitors can marvel at a high golden statue of Sakyamuni, various statues in each level, and frescoes adorning the ground floor's inner walls – all exemplifying the artistic prowess of the Liao Dynasty. Despite facing numerous calamities, including three major earthquakes and bombardment during wars between warlords, this historic gem remains standing tall.
