The Working Planetary Pocket Watch

Just wanted to say first that I highly recommend going through the annotations before watching the animation so you have a clear understanding of what's happening. With limited space here, most of the explanation can be found within the model viewer itself. The short version is that this pocket watch has been a labor of love for several months, utilizing a 3D model of the earth and moon to display time and calendar dates in a unique way, based on an ancient system used thousands of years ago. What truly sets it apart is the fact that only the earth's orbit around the sun is animated by hand. The rest of the animations are mathematically calculated using real data found online. In theory, if you knew the starting points to sync with the actual world, you could use this watch to tell time accurately since it relies on precise real-world data. That's everything; enjoy! Note: Created with Blender.
