Pisano worked alongside his assistants to create numerous reliefs that adorned the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral in Florence. These intricate carvings showcase allegorical scenes or biblical narratives from ancient Greek mythology. As a result, they are classified as early Renaissance art: their subjects diverge significantly from those of the Gothic era and demonstrate an increasing fascination with the cultures of Greece and Rome, which dominated the Italian Renaissance movement.
