The Whoopinator- FPV Quad Camera Mount Inspired by the “Tiny Whoop” low cost FPV quadcopter, this mount makes it easy to add an FX798T camera to any drone that can carry a 6g payload. This design was born out of our small ladies FPV drone racing club's need for a quick and affordable way to attach cameras to our quads. We're based in Shenzhen and are trying to get more women and girls involved in the hobby as a gateway to Making. Flying leads to crashing, which can be frustrating, but it also teaches you how to fix things and create improvements. $100+ FPV drones are amazing, but they're not accessible to everyone, especially when you're just starting out. We've been focusing on stock micro quads and indoor racing to keep the hobby affordable. With a random collection of cameras and quads, I came up with this rig so we could quickly attach a FX798T to whatever quad we have that day. The design is based on Oscar Liang's “Whoopee” VTX holder, but it's more robust since our races often turn into intense dogfights. The print is one piece and can withstand the wear and tear of frequent crashes. We've been using it with JJRC H8 Mini's, but it also fits perfectly on my Syma X5C as a trainer quad. There are two versions: regular and strong, which has an extra protective ring. I use the strong version since I'm not exactly the most gentle flyer. The total weight of the FX798T, holder, and zip-tie is over 6g. To print it, use .15mm layer height, 2 perimeters, no supports, and 50-100% infill with APS or PLA. So far, I've never had one break since our micro quads are so lightweight.
