What is this? The WhistleBlower is a compact, small and light x-carriage designed specifically for Prusa i3 printers with an integrated mount for E3D Chimera or Cyclops dual head. Disclaimer This project is still in development. I'm currently printing and testing the last prototypes. Be aware that no prints have been made using this head/mount combo yet, so some adjustments may be necessary. The nozzles will end up about 15mm higher on the Z axis, requiring a possible adjustment to your Z axis endstop. Fan Support This carriage features an integrated mount for a radial fan at the back, used as a layer fan through its built-in air duct. Unlike many other mounts, it uses a radial fan ("blower" type) instead of the classic 40mm fan, allowing better cooling and increased air pressure. No more dangling fans on the sides or stacked fans on top of the radiator; your printer's head remains clean and compact. This design also allows easy access to the radiator's front and top, enabling you to mount additional equipment (such as bed sensors) with ease. Head Mounting The radiators are mounted from the back for increased stability and easy access to the bowden tubes pre-tensioners. Multiple mount blocks of varying thickness are included to fit your specific needs, all equipped with eyelets for strain relief and guidance of the head's cables. Extras This carriage sports a drag-chain slot (suited for Prusa i3 variants like BQ Hephestos) as well as a "No drag-chain" version. A customizable x-axis endstop "finger" is also included, allowing you to tailor it to your printer's specific positionning of the switch. Print Settings Printer: BQ Hephestos Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 40 Notes: This design should print well without supports when oriented on its side. Add "supports touching buildplate" if necessary, but do not print supports inside the air-duct. Support walls are included in the files for those few spots where they are necessary. A version without support walls is also available for advanced slicers to add their own supports. Post-Printing Cut and clean supports on the back of the carriage.
