The statue of the weeping Buddha shows him in a bent-over position, covering his face with his hands as if overcome by emotion. A legend tells of two warriors associated with the weeping Buddha. The warriors faced each other on multiple battlefields. Both warriors wore masks that obscured their opponents' faces, forcing them to rely solely on their instincts and combat skills. Despite several fierce clashes, it was the older warrior who emerged victorious in the end. The younger warrior fell, defeated. When the older warrior removed his mask, he was shocked to discover that he had killed his own long-lost son. Moved by this realization, the older warrior – later known as the weeping Buddha – began to sob uncontrollably. According to tradition, the weeping Buddha is believed to absorb humanity's suffering and troubles. In return, he offers peace and lends strength to those who gently rub his back.
