The way to roll: Portable, foldable wheelchair rampIntroductionIn our school project, we focused on creating an innovative solution to improve accessibility: a wheelchair ramp that is both easy to build and affordable. This project aligns with our commitment to inclusivity and practical engineering. We focused on several key features:CheapPortablePrintableAdjustable (obstacle heights)Technical DetailsWidth: 300 mm - 800 mm (adjustable)Length: 1430 mmMaximum Height 50 mm - 250 mmWeight: 8100 gPrinting Time: ~175 hBuilding Time: ~2 hPrint Material: PLA/ASAMaximum load capacity: Tested 200 kgDesigned in Fusion 360 by AutoDesk (https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal)Material ListSizeQuantityTypeUsageprice (CHF)4x4512 pcs.countersunk ScrewTo screw printed part to wood2.954x3512 pcs.countersunk ScrewTo screw printed part to wood2.904x354 pcs.countersunk ScrewTo attach the handle1.004x308 pcs.countersunk ScrewFor the folding system1.80M8x352 pcs.countersunk ScrewFor the folding system5.00M8 lock2 pcs.nutFor the folding system1.20M632 pcs.washersFor every screw except handle and M88.25608 ZZ12 pcs.ball bearingFor the folding system5.90255mm M204 pcs.PVC pipeFor the folding system7.30 for 2m140mm M201 pcs.PVC pipeFor the handle-200x1508 pcs.rubber matFor the endings6.45150x1502 pcs.rubber matTo prevent slipping off on the edge-180x1502 pcs.metal sheetTo add strength on the edge9.601000x150x212 pcs.screen printing plateFor bottom component of main ramp40.0200x150x212 pcs.screen printing plateFor top component of main ramp-Tesa Tape1 pc.double sided tapeTo attach metal sheet to components11.50UHU Power1 pc.All-purpose adhesiveTo attach rubber mat to PVC tubes4.65330g1 rollPLA 3D Print materialFor the small components7.101700g1 rollASA 3D Print materialFor the big components44.00Total159.60Print SettingsThese settings are essential for the big component to be stable enough to support the weight needed.Item SettingsLayer Height: 0.20 mmInitial Layer Height: 0.20 mmWall Line Count: 5Top/Bottom Pattern: LineInfill Density: 40 %Infill Pattern: CubicParts to printPartQuantityMaterialMain connector2ASAHandle Left1PLAHandle Right1PLAFolding Limb 14PLAFolding Limb 2 Left2PLAFolding Limb 2 Right2PLABall bearing holder6PLALock mechanism 12PLALock mechanism 22PLABuilding StepsMain PartCut all components to the correct sizePrint all necessary 3D printed parts.Screw the main connector part to the big (bottom) and small (top) screen printing plate.
