The Voyages of Benchy

Introduction

All aboard! Its time for the Benchy to embark on a journey…

This is a take on a 3d printed version of Tsuro. It includes a new complete set of tiles and a custom-made storage box. It uses tiny benchies as tokens (scaled down to a length of 24mm ) and a foldable denim game-board.

Printed parts

Box

The box lid print is pretty straightforward, with a single color change during the print. With the box body it gets trickier. I wanted to have tiny piers to separate the components (don't ask me why), and I also wanted them to have the look as if they where made with wood planks. And as I don´t have the option to print with two colors I had to add them as inserts.

So the process goes as follows:

First print the pier boards

Then print the pier with a pause during the print to add the boards as inserts.

And finally print the box with another pause and place the full piers as inserts.

Benchies

Next come the jolly benchies. The game can be played by up to 8 players, so you need a fleet with at least 8 different colored benchies. You can make one with glow-in-the-dark fillament for an extra WOW factor.

Non Printed parts

Tiles

For the Tiles there is a .pdf file attached. I completely remade the design so it had more of a “pirate treasure map” look . I suggest printing them on illustration paper and then laminate them if possible.

Board

The board can be made with denim or some other fabric (preferably blue). It's a 6x6 grid made of 6cm squares, so the cloth should be at least 40cmx40cm. With white string (or some other color that contrasts the one from the fabric) mark the grid on the board.

Gameplay

The rules to play the game are the same as with the original game and can be found at: https://www.ultraboardgames.com/tsuro/game-rules.php

It's time to set sail, have fun and happy printing!
