The Vending Machine Project- AniMEALS

In our Multimedia class we were given a challenge to make 3D printed toys that would fit in a vending machine capsule. The purpose of the project was to learn about 3D modelling and 3D printing and share this with our school and beyond. Each student was responsible for creating 5 designs, and learned about how to design models that don’t need support material or adhesion. My design series is called “Animeals”. I used Tinkercad to make the designs and used a combination of regular shapes (such as circles, triangles, and squares) to attempt to recreate the look of animals made out of food. The challenges for this project were trying to create a model that looked like both an animal and a food while using limited tools. It was also trying to make a model that looked like the foods I wanted- as a very small toy inside a vending machine, and a singular colour. I feel that I succeeded with some models, like the Craburger, and others are lacking without the proper colour and detail. However, I like how simple each of the models turned out and it was a fun challenge to create models that are printable, recognizable, and fit in a vending machine capsule. The first model is Mangoldfish The second model is Craburger The third model Susheep The fourth model is Ssaussage The fifth model is AppleBee Instructions Print using no less than 20% fill. Default speed and heat, no supports or rafts. Student First Name or Initials M Multimedia and Design Studies Cold Lake High School
