THE UNIVERSAL KISS 3D PRINT-IN-PLACE FACE SHIELD FRAME (COVID-19)
thingiverse
A KISS! Version https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle This design is a universal idea that's ready for 3D printing fast using low material consumption. It could be used theoretically as part of face shields when combined with PETG transparencies. The print-in-place design supports A4 or 11x8.5" PETG transparencies sizes in portrait mode without modifications - no hole punchers required for assembly. Simply use the snapping slot for a secure fixation. Clear tape can be used to fix it in place, but the slot alone provides a secure fit as per my latest tests. The design has holes at the back ready for any cord you find available, or forget about the holes and use a rubber band on the outside edges of the circles - a simple yet effective fixation. The idea was developed in response to the global shortage of PPEs due to COVID-19 in healthcare systems. This design uploaded here is NOT certified as PPE nor has been used in the field. Test it on your 3D printer if you like the model and feel free to develop further on top of this simple idea. I'm not encouraging the use of these devices in the field since PLA and other 3D printing materials are porous, catch bacteria, and are typically produced in unregulated environments. If you receive this design by someone claiming it's a PPE, consult your local authorities first. Version 1.6 fits adult head sizes (Large size). Version 1.6.1 has a narrower fit (Medium Size). Version 1.6.2 is the narrowest and still fits most adult heads tested (Small Size).
