Previously, I was annoyed with small 10-40mm calibration targets that made it hard to detect measurement errors. Thinking that stepper errors could accumulate over longer distances, I created a large 120mm target with minor axis of 15mm and thickness of 3mm. If someone else has done this before, credit will be given. To measure accurately, print the target while still attached to the bed. With this calibration, a 1% error would result in a more noticeable 1.2mm difference compared to smaller targets with only 400 micron discrepancies. Additionally, larger calibrations help account for anisotropic thermal distortions in extruded parts. Your thoughts and opinions on this are welcome!
