The Ultimate FPV Launch Stand
thingiverse
Description --------------------- Adjustable angle and width, suits a wide range of drones from 3 inch up to 6 inch and launch angles anywhere from flat up to 60 degrees. Tried and tested elasticated design ensures that your stand doesn't dissasemble itself when you launch or if the stand is moved. Sourcing the stand --------------------- The best source I have found for these laptops stands is AliExpress. There are quite a few different sellers that list this model of stand, and I have bought the same stand from several of them, so just pick the cheapest. Make sure the model you buy matches the design in the photo's as these parts will not work on the single-level style of laptop stands. This link may eventually expire and also the price may fluctuate, but here is where I bought the last batch of stands from: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005109992216.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.3f261802lH7S3L Printing --------------------- All parts should be printed in TPU without supports - see the photo for suggested print orientation. Parts and quantities you will need to print: 1 x A-top-cap-left.stl 1 x B-top-cap-right.stl 1 x C-left-platform.stl 1 x D-right-platform.stl 1 x E-end-cap-left.stl 1 x F-end-cap-right.stl 2 x G-bottom-cap.stl 2 x H-bottom-cap.stl You will also need --------------------- Approximately 30cm of elastic cord that is 2.5mm diameter or less.* * The elastic cord can be substituted with raw TPU filament straight off the spool, just tie a knot in the end and give it a quick blast with a lighter to secure it in place. It's worth noting that as TPU filament is usually less stretchy than elatstic cord, you will have a reduced range of adjustments with this method. Modifying the stand --------------------- The laptop stand has a curved ledge to prevent the laptop from sliding off when angled, this can get in the way of the props so will need to be cut off, the prints allow for 7mm of material beyond the notch, so if you aim for 5mm you should be good. I have found the ideal tool for cutting the stand is a Dremel with a cutting disc - be sure to wear the appropriate protective gear. Assembly --------------------- Simply slide the existing silicon boots off the laptop stand and slide the new parts on - they are designed to be a tight fit so may take a bit of persuading. You may find that the platforms will catch on the silicone pads and also the top braces, so gently lift the edge of the prints over them with a screwdrive or similar, taking care not to scratch the stand. One all the prints are in place all you need to do is thread the elastic through the hoops and tie it off to prevent it from coming undone - the correct length of elastic to use will depend on your preferred launch angles, so experiment a little here. The goal is to be able to pick the stand up when it is set to your preferred angle without it dissasembling itself. Credit for the idea --------------------- This model is very loosely based on SSBelmont's launch stand, there should be a link somewhere on this page to the original item. All of these models are 100% original and no files have been copied. And finally --------------------- If you have made one, please do upload a make of it, I would love to see them. Now go fly!
