YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O-guaq50j8 The U Mansion was inspired by a majestic mansion I saw in a Bollywood movie. The U Mansion was created using 3D Object building software called SketchUp. I started with a single sheet of filament placed virtually on the base of the software as a property location. Then, I made the floorplan for the building and began to create. The design process involved a series of push/pull and erase operations. The first step was to pull the floor plan into a 3D object. Next, I centered the door using the curved line tool, creating it from scratch. The windows in the front were made using the circle tool, carefully crafting several circles without any overlap. I then created the side windows using the rectangle tool and repeated this process for the back and front windows as well. After completing all the doors and windows, I erased the center portion of each one to give it a more realistic appearance. Then, I placed rectangles on the inside of the right and left sides of the building to show floors visible from outside. Once the interior and exterior were complete, I moved on to creating the top/roof of the building. The movie depicted a rectangular pool on one side of the roof with tables on the other. I created the pool and dive board using rectangles and the push/pull tool. The tables were crafted using the same circles used for the front windows and the push/pull tool. On top of the building, I also made fencing using three connected rectangles and the push/pull tool. With the main building completed, I needed to finish the front of the mansion. The movie showed a one-way half-circle drive-thru with a fountain. I recreated this feature using the half-circle tool, needing two applications to achieve both sides of the drive-thru. To show it was indeed a drive-thru and not part of the lawn, I lifted it slightly. The fountain was made similarly, starting with five circles laid down in the center of the drive-thru and in front of the building. Then, using the push/pull tool, I crafted them into a tower by pulling one circle at a time. Finally, I created a sixth circle on top and erased it to reveal the tube for water flow. Along the way, I had to redesign some windows because I couldn't compare their dimensions accurately without an actual blueprint or design. Other than that, the design followed photos and video from the movie closely. My model cannot move as it's a static building with no moving parts like motors or robots. This 3D replica is cool because it represents something I've seen only through video and pictures from a movie, not by my own eyes.
