The Tudor Rose Box (with secret lock)
pinshape
This design is deeply rooted in my English heritage, and I proudly call it the Tudor Rose box. I aimed to recreate the intricate effect of heavy wood carving that was characteristic of the Tudor period. This was a daunting task, but one that presented many opportunities for creativity. The box boasts a clever secret lock mechanism - by sliding the front panel to the right, the box effortlessly unlocks; close the lid and slide the panel back again, and it securely locks into place. I've taken the time to provide comprehensive instructions on how to assemble this intricate model, which can be found at http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Tudor-Rose-Box-Assembly-Instructions/. This model prints without supports, a feature that adds an extra layer of complexity and realism to its design. Please note that some slicers have encountered issues with the original vines, which were intentionally designed to be thin but potentially difficult to slice accurately. To address this issue, I've uploaded two revised versions of the box body and front slider panel featuring thicker vines. These updated files can be found at box_body_thicker_vines.stl and front_slider_panel_thicker_vines.stl. If you're experiencing difficulties with the original files, please switch to these alternatives. Additionally, I've created a new STL file for the rose that should slice more smoothly than the original design.
