The True Tamper

The True Tamper

No matter how carefully I crafted each tamp, traditional tamper unevenness often plagued my attempts. Many new wave tampers now available on the market address this issue but introduce another problem: a significant dent in my wallet. I aimed to design a simple tamper that guaranteed perfectly even or "true" tamps every time. Additionally, I sought stepless depth adjustment that could be changed instantly without any extra tools. This design is what ultimately emerged. It's centered around an E61 58mm portafilter basket, specifically the Espresso Parts HQ 14g Double, with the four I possess measuring approximately 58.95mm in diameter. The tamper has a diameter of 58.90mm. There are too many variables at play, from printer setup to different basket manufacturers. For optimal results, measure the inner diameter and scale these parts accordingly. I've optimized the threads as much as possible for printing, but I suggest printing the lock ring and body 1.0% larger than the base.
