The "true face" of St Dominic

The "true face" of St Dominic

Saint Dominic (1170–1221), was a Castilian priest and founder of the Dominican Order. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers. Research and examinations have been done on the relics of the saint's body, so that his likeness could be reconstructed. This bust is the result of the efforts, done by Fabio Frassetto, who moulded the skull in plaster, and Carlo Pini, who covered it with the soft parts. The "true face" of St. Dominic was therefore reproduced, although it does not necessarily correspond with the traditional portrayals.
