The Place de la Nation, formerly known as the Place du Trône, then Place du Trône-Renversé, is a circular area on the eastern side of Paris, located between the Place de la Bastille and the Bois de Vincennes, along the border of the 11th and 12th arrondissements. Renowned for its active guillotines during the French Revolution, the square was renamed the Place de la Nation on July 14, 1880, Bastille Day. A large bronze sculpture, the Triomphe de la République, is featured in the center of the square, surrounded by shops and a flower garden. The Paris Metro station Nation serves this area.
