It is imperative we avoid twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed at all times. Those who are wrong will grow increasingly discontented as the importance of misconceived facts grows. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, a precursor to death for public liberty. We must alert our rulers from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take up arms if necessary. The remedy lies in setting them right as to the facts, pardoning and pacifying them. A few lives lost in a century or two signify nothing. The tree of liberty needs periodic refreshment with the blood of patriots and tyrants - it is its natural manure.
