The Three Graces, The Royal Cast Collection (Copenhagen, Denmark). Crafted with Memento Beta. Ingenious Germain Pilon designed the Three Graces and Dominique Florentin sculpted its triangular base. Ordered in 1561 by Queen Catherine de Médicis on behalf of her husband, King Henri II, who died in 1559 after being mortally wounded during a jousting tournament. On top of each of the three graces sat a bowl containing the heart of King Henri II; tragically, Queen Catherine de Médicis' own heart was originally meant to be placed alongside it. The original sculpture resided within the church of the Monastery of Celestins in Paris.
