The Third Eye (Design Team)

A group of four high school students from the tri-state area worked together with Cooper Union and Eye 2021 to create a device for visually impaired individuals. The device, which consists of two 3-D printed half cases and cones, employs ultrasonic sensor technology to measure proximity to objects and conveys this information via clicks. The sensors fit into designated holes in the cases, while the 3-D printed cones narrow each sensor's field of vision for accurate readings. This device can be attached to a regular flat brimmed cap, providing a 135-degree field of vision.
