Dear friends, I would like to introduce you to the telescope that Isaac Newton devised back in 1670, I had the concern to draw it for some of the curiosities that may not be as well known, as enigmatic as Newton himself. As a child, this antique object always caught my eye. The strange thing is that the object is not made of glass as I supposed, but of a speculum, an alloy of copper and tin, which in its right proportions gives a whitish shine. The real reason that led Isaac Newton to build it was basically to test his theory of colors and since there is no glass in either the objective or the secondary mirror, chromatic aberration is almost nil. As for the crowns that can be seen in his drawing, they represent the optical magnification he had. Representing it thus comparatively, with some moldings of a building, which could be seen from the window of his room. By the way, this little telescope opened the door to the most powerful and gigantic telescopes we have today!
