The Taj Mahal is an iconic symbol of India's rich history and a prime example of Mughal architecture. Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal, this stunning marble mausoleum sits on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra. The complex spans over 22 hectares and includes subsidiary tombs, waterworks infrastructure, a 'moonlight garden', and the small town of 'Taj Ganji'. Construction began in 1632 AD and took approximately 12 years to complete. The Taj Mahal masterfully combines elements from Indian, Islamic, Persian, and Turkish architectural styles and is celebrated as "the jewel of Muslim art in India". It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and remains one of the most famous and recognizable buildings globally. Dick Lowe recently recreated this magnificent monument using tab and slot sheet metal techniques. His impressive 3D model took three evenings to complete, and he encourages others to learn from his process by examining screenshots of both design and methodology. As always, feedback, renderings, and "likes" are welcomed and appreciated.
