The Sweet Dragon
sketchfab
The Sweet Dragon tavern from the Unexpectables D&D stream/podcast is a masterpiece of polycount modeling, crafted with precision in Zbrush's high-poly environment. Retopo and unwrap techniques were expertly applied using 3D Coat to create a seamless mesh. Texturing was a multi-faceted process that combined the power of Substance Painter for detailed base textures and Corel Painter for subtle brushwork effects. This project marked a significant milestone, as it was the first completed model in quite some time, requiring a total of 67 days to bring to life. Although work on the model was done in short bursts, with a few minutes each morning before starting work and more substantial blocks of time after hours, plus extended periods on weekends, the end result is well worth the effort. Despite challenges getting renders to accurately replicate Substance Painter's displayed results, this project has been deemed satisfactory for now, with any remaining fixes being put on hold until it's integrated into a game engine.
