Idrimi took hold of Alalakh's crown in the 15th century B.C., ruling from around 1460-1400 B.C. A Hurrianised Semitic son, Idrimi was born to Ilim-Ilimma I, who had once ruled Halab, now modern-day Aleppo, before possibly being overthrown by Barattarna or Parshatatar, the powerful king of Mitanni. Despite this setback, Idrimi secured his place on Alalakh's throne with help from a group known as the Habiru.
