The Spyder Pod Printable
thingiverse
I got the idea from Instructables, specifically The Spider Pod: Your DSLR's New Friend. Since I have a 3D printer, I created a template for the coolant pipes. Not having a drill press was no issue since I borrowed Chitlange Sahas' brilliant design and made a simple Tinkercad version that can be easily 3D printed. This design should be helpful to those who want to make unique projects but don't have access to power tools or metal materials. The 20mm tall design calls for a 1/4" x 25mm bolt (1") and a 1/4" nut. Simply drop the nut onto the insert and tighten down, then thread the remaining portion into a camera for mounting. For added strength, I recommend at least four shells and possibly 30-50% infill.
