The Spirit of Eternal Rest at the Museum Rodin, Paris
myminifactory
This striking sculpture was crafted in 1898 from bronze and seems on the cusp of toppling over. It makes a direct allusion to Antique art, particularly The Spirit of Eternal Repose at the Louvre in Paris and Skopas's figure of Pothos from the 4th century BC. The statue originated during the period when Rodin created fragmented works, intentionally mutilating and paring down his figures to make them more forceful and expressive. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit project introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital repository of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost.
