The Younger Agrippina, typically depicted in this reclining sculpture, was the mother of the Roman emperor Nero and a highly influential woman within the Roman Empire. As Caligula's youngest sister, she earned a reputation as ruthless, ambitious, violent, and domineering, yet also stunningly beautiful and reputable. Ancient historians frequently accuse Agrippina of poisoning her husband Claudius, though accounts differ significantly. In AD 59, Agrippina was put to death on the orders of her son.
