Peyo (25 June 1928 – 24 December 1992), a renowned Belgian comics artist, is best known for creating the iconic comic strip The Smurfs, which was first brought to life in 1958. Peyo adopted his stage name early on in his career, inspired by an English cousin's mispronunciation of Pierrot, a diminutive form of Pierre. A gigantic statue of one of the beloved characters from The Smurfs was erected as a tribute to the city and to honor Peyo's contributions to the country and the world of comics. This impressive sculpture is proudly displayed at the entrance of the Moof museum in Brussels, a museum dedicated to showcasing Peyo's remarkable body of work. This magnificent object is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory. Through this project, we are creating a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe, making them freely accessible to the public. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, and if you have intriguing items nearby that you'd like to contribute, simply email stw@myminifactory.com to discover how you can participate and help shape this remarkable collection.
