Welcome to The Hallwyl Museum, a historic home turned cultural destination in Stockholm, Sweden. This enchanting residence once belonged to Walther and Wilhelmina von Hallwyl, a couple who lived life to the fullest. On special occasions, gentlemen would gather here after dinner, puffing on cigars and engaging in lively conversations. But this room wasn't just for festive gatherings; it was also where the family spent their regular evenings, sipping coffee and enjoying board games together. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, a perfect blend of comfort and sophistication. The smoking room is a true showstopper, inspired by the exotic allure of the Orient. During the late 19th century, it was all the rage to decorate with oriental motifs, and this room is a prime example of that era's ideals. The style is often associated with colonialism and militarism, but in this context, it's a nod to the gentlemanly pursuits of the time. The walls are adorned with silk, giving the space an air of elegance reminiscent of an officer's tent. It's a clever touch, one that adds to the room's charm and character. For this project, we captured stunning images using four Panasonic Lumix GX8 cameras, each one carefully positioned to capture the room's unique atmosphere and details. The result is a collection of photographs that will transport you to another era, where gentlemen were gentlemen, and elegance was always in style.
