People see themselves differently from how others view them when gazing into the mirror, a tool used to reflect one's outside appearance but also their image of oneself. This is due to individuals perceiving themselves as they appear in the reflection while others perceive this self same reflection. However, mirrors also display our personal attitudes, values and convictions. The design was inspired by Korea’s flag because of national pride, which holds significant meaning for me. The yin and yang elements within represent equilibrium between negative and positive aspects embodying the truth behind Mother Nature's creation that development stems from yin and yang interaction. Additionally, these components at each corner signify oppositions in balance. For those with Korean heritage, like myself, their flag represents a source of inspiration and pride as well as being an enduring symbol of this nation's relentless fight for independence and liberty.
