A FIRST-RATE HAT FOR YOUR TROOPS!!! The Shako (also known as a mirliton) is a military hat, shaped like a truncated cone with a visor; it was often made of felt and decorated with a plume (named a casoar), pompon or braid. This was the headgear that replaced the bicorne in 1807 for army officers. It was first worn by Prussian troops, then called a Hungarian Shako, but eventually the Kepi would replace it in the years leading up to 1860.
