The Shadow Project
thingiverse
This post focuses on creating a light/shadow projection print, using an arbitrary 2D planar shape and 3D surface shell. The process works best for couples with names beginning A and M. Inspired by stereographic projections, this design is achievable in programs like Blender, after removing duplicates from scaled shapes. It involves ray tracing the 2D projection through the surface shell to create the desired light cutout. Additional considerations include print difficulty and ensuring all pieces are connected. Projections can be made onto various objects as long as the design software supports boolean subtraction and correct light placement is ensured.
