I'm attempting to make the popular board game "Catan" playable for blind people. After studying some versions of Catan on Thingiverse two years ago, printing objects and trying them out with blind friends, it was clear that a new version of Catan would have to be created in order to play together! A version focused on touching, not optics. Above all, I was inspired by Dakanzla's work (https://www.thingiverse.com/Dakanzla/about), which is beautiful and shows many great detail solutions. So the main aspect of my version is haptic: clearly distinguishable objects and number chips with Braille lettering. The magnetic lock with magnet balls has proven to be very advantageous for my friends, giving valuable haptic feedback when placing streets. For most objects, there were at least two versions in development, and one object even demanded seven versions before it met the requirements. This means that this Catan version has been well tested and played on several times and is great for playing together by people with and without visual disabilities. Of course, there are still many ideas to make the game more integrative, but they haven't yet been implemented and only exist in thought. I would like to exchange ideas with other people who are also interested in described inclusion - together we could make the adjustments even better!
