The Self-Watering, Composting Planter
grabcad
This self-watering planter combines composting technology in a single pot. It features three chambers: the lower one for water storage and upper for soil and plants. The ceiling of the lower chamber has small holes, allowing plant roots to grow through for direct access to water. A cylindrical structure within the upper chamber facilitates vermicomposting - using earthworms to convert organic waste into fertilizer, benefiting the plants. This one-piece design can be produced via 3D printing, with PLA and FDM method, eliminating assembly steps like welding for the spout or worm tube. A lid could also be included to prevent animals from accessing scraps.
