The ScatterShot MKII

This is the MKII release of THE SCATTERSHOT, a foam dart launching, pump action, spring-powered blaster featuring three-dimensional printed design. It fires three half darts per shot in a 3-degree spread from an under-slung horizontal box magazine with a 13 + 1 shot capacity. A thorough reading of the included build guide is necessary before attempting to make this. The required printer must have a minimum volume of 200 x 200 x 180mm. The changes made to the MKII include slight improvements to the overall aesthetics and additional detailing, as well as redesigned internals for a larger, more widely available polycarbonate plunger tube that offers increased performance and a better-designed plunger tube head improving dart feeding. Printable alternatives to the two other sizes of PVC pipe used in the build have been created, and the breach hinge has been improved. Some changes have also been made to the required hardware, as outlined in the updated list found in the build guide. This page only includes the blaster; the magazine can be downloaded from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3497413. The stock attachment lug is available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3591221. To operate the blaster, load the magazine with up to 13 darts per stack, then insert it into the magwell by pushing it up and forward until it catches in place, making sure the darts are facing up. Prime the blaster by pulling the pump back all the way until the trigger catches, then all the way forward in one swift motion. The blaster is now ready to fire. To remove the magazine, push the mag release button in the trigger guard and pull down on the magazine. To prevent dry firing, the blaster will not prime when the magazine is empty. Avoid dry firing the blaster or firing it with the pump grip not in the forward position, as this may damage the blaster. I have successfully tested springs up to 12 kg, but I do not know how much higher of a spring load the blaster can take. I recommend using a 10-kg spring for optimal performance. The blaster is loud, so wearing ear plugs when firing it is highly recommended. To avoid potential injury, be sure to wear safety glasses and all other necessary safety equipment when making and using this blaster. I would like to thank MeakerVI for his work that led to the PVC plunger pipe replacement, available at https://www.thingiverse.com/MeakerVI/about. An update has been made on May 27th, 2019: improvements have been added to some parts of the magazine, increasing its capacity to 13 shots.
