The Export Shed (1856) was a warehouse where hogsheads of sugar and puncheons of rum were carefully weighed before being shipped out. The offices of the weighmaster were conveniently located on the first floor, while soldiers were housed upstairs in comfortable quarters. This sturdy building replaced an older wooden weighing house that dated back to 1840.
