sketchfab
The Sayhuite monolith stands as a significant feature on the website, boasting an impressive array of over 200 intricate geometric and zoomorphic figures, including reptiles, frogs, and felines that leave a lasting impression on visitors. Located at the summit of Concacha hill, this colossal rock is sculpted to resemble a topographical hydraulic model, complete with meticulously designed terraces, ponds, rivers, tunnels, and irrigation channels. Despite the mystery surrounding its original purpose, researcher Dr. Arlan Andrews, Sr. theorizes that the monolith was utilized as a scale model for designing, developing, testing, and documenting water flow in public water projects, while also serving as an educational tool to instruct ancient engineers and technicians on essential concepts and practices. The stone underwent multiple revisions, with new material added to either alter existing water paths or introduce entirely new routes. Spanning approximately two meters in length and four meters in width, the Sayhuite monolith reigns as the most popular draw at the archaeological site.
