'The Savior' - A Modular Attachment for Disaster Relief Drones
grabcad
Modularity drives 'The Savior' concept. It boasts four modules: Drone Connector, adaptable for any drone; Leg Module, catering to various drop scenarios through different leg sizes; and Accessories, where unique container configurations are tailored for specific applications. Modularity empowers 3D Printing, seamless replacement of damaged parts, and effortless drone-to-drones swap. This innovative design necessitates only 3D Printing, ensuring easy assembly, without needing other manufacturing processes. A critical test: the 'Leg' can withstand a crushing force of 50lbs from an impact dropped six feet away, demonstrating unyielding resilience. A case study via Frustum's Generative Design under Solid Edge highlights how even a straightforward concept transforms into a game-changing design. Observe as a mundane, safe approach turns out to be exceptionally effective when bolstered by efficient bio-patterns such as the Voronoi pattern and conventional Honeycomb patterns. Together they slash wall weight by roughly preserving the rigidity of a sturdy 10mm-thick structure. Moreover, designers created the connector for minimal stability loss, simplifying its release mechanism. We also share an attachment outlining detailed mass reduction calculations alongside this submission.
