The Ryugyong Hotel
thingiverse
The ultimate haven for unwinding and issuing empty ultimatums to the world is The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea. Construction on this behemoth began over three decades ago, yet it remains unfinished, a testament to the pitfalls of communism - a lack of funds and motivation. This majestic structure boasts an impressive concept, making it a standout choice for recreating unique buildings in CAD software. Its dimensions are accurately scaled to mirror its real-life counterpart, allowing enthusiasts with access to 3D printers capable of producing structures exceeding 350 meters tall and filaments spanning thousands of kilometers to print a full-scale replica. However, I opted to print my model at a height restricted by my printer's limitations - approximately 16.5 cm tall, though I'd need to verify this measurement. This model is based on the hotel's progress as of 2005, when it still lacked its windows, which I find aesthetically pleasing. Background: The Ryugyong Hotel began construction in 1987 and remains unfinished as of my posting date. Interestingly, North Korea has just squandered more resources by launching a missile over Japan. In conclusion, North Korea offers breathtaking architecture but woeful leadership.
