The Rondanini Alexander
myminifactory
Alexander Rondanini is a celebrated artwork that brings to life the Macedonian King and conqueror in a moment of repose. He stands tall, unadorned yet still radiating power, as his cuirass and armor rest nearby, awaiting his call to action. With a jug cradled in his left hand, he kneels upon a rocky outcropping, an image both serene and majestic. This piece is part of a larger collection crafted by Euphranor, showcasing King Philip of Macedon astride his chariot, led by four proud horses. His son Alexander takes the reins in both hands, as seen in some versions of the artwork. However, these details were later altered to feature the armor instead. The creation dates back to a pivotal moment in history - the Battle of Chaeronea, fought in 338 BC.
