The "Revolver"... easy to print but challenging to solve!
myminifactory
The "Revolver" is a 3D printed puzzle with 41 independent moving parts that spin and slide around a two-part Retainer. Prints are straightforward, and the result is truly impressive. This is similar to a Rubik's cube in that the goal is to align matching colours, but there are two puzzles in one with the Revolver - you can align rows or columns to be the same colours. A single-colour version is also available as an alternative for people wanting this puzzle without six filament colours. This version has six indented shapes to align instead of colours. One space is left to allow for the Sliders to move one space at a time, meaning you need to plan your moves as you work towards your goal. You can pull it apart if frustrated and realign it that way, but if you're up for the challenge, glue the thread so it will never come apart! The parts are all easy prints, and assembly is very straightforward. However, you'll need at least 6 colours of filament to achieve the desired result. The images provided create a great visual effect. Black is used for the Retainer in all Revolvers, which are printed in White, while colours used for the Sliders include White, Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, and Green. To make the space where one Slider is left out less noticeable, you should make all the Revolvers the same colour as the Slider you decide to leave out. This way, you'll see the underlying Revolver colour in the empty space, making it appear almost seamless. Achieving the end result does take time, but it's well worth the effort. You need at least 6 colours of filament and to change the filament between prints - most machines capable of printing fine detail and good slicing apps should have no problem with the fine tolerances in this print. Watching it come together is satisfying once it's complete, and with the Slider colours all mixed up, it can be very frustrating until you solve it. But then, it's incredibly satisfying again! Print the puzzle - can you do it? And if you succeed, post images of your achievement! Refer to the print instructions and images for additional details.
