THE RAMPS Box
pinshape
Original push-to-fit RAMPS box features fast print, good cooling, ample space for wires, reset switch hole, push-to-fit design, and a 40mm cooler. While building my RepRap Rostock 3D printer, I realized that a custom enclosure for the electronics was necessary - there just aren't enough options available. Most designs either take too long to print or require specific fan sizes, making them impractical for my needs. The real challenge lies with the extruder stepper driver: it generates excessive heat due to its high power consumption, which can cause the printer to skip steps and produce holes in the printed material. To address this issue, I carefully positioned a cooler to effectively dissipate the heat from the extruder driver while allowing hot air to escape around the wires. The resulting design enables fast printing - a happy side effect of my desire for rapid iteration. By keeping wall thickness at 2mm, I was able to print the enclosure in under 2 hours, saving me valuable time and resources. Installing a Mega and RAMPS board inside requires no screws, although the 40mm fan must be secured using screws. If you need a custom enclosure printed, you can place an order here.
